Description

Rubber Components for Hydraulics and Pumps

Barbieri Rubber produces rubber components for water hydraulics and pump units: flat seals, protection bellows, anti-vibration feet, caps, protections and accessories for centrifugal pumps, pressurization units, valves, exchangers and hydraulic plants. Typical compounds are EPDM for water and steam, NBR where oils are present, VMQ silicone for food and high-temperature applications, FKM (Viton®) for aggressive fluids.

Typical water hydraulics requirements

Water hydraulics requires rubber components resistant to cold and hot water, steam, glycols, ozone and thermal or chemical sterilization cycles. Flat seals must keep tightness under pressure and temperature over long cycles. Bellows and protections must resist outdoor exposure, UV and humid environments. Anti-vibration feet for pump units must damp running vibration with long-term stability.

Most requested hydraulics components

Most requested sector components: EPDM flat seals for pump and fitting flanges, protection bellows for actuators and rods, anti-vibration feet for centrifugal pumps and pressurization units, caps and protections for fittings during transport and storage, grommets for automation cabinets, elastic closures for technical lids.

Typical compounds for hydraulics

EPDM is the reference compound for water, steam, glycols and ozone, with -40/+130 °C temperature range. VMQ silicone is chosen for food and high-temperature applications (up to 200 °C). NBR is incompatible with prolonged hot water but suitable for blended hydraulic oils. FKM (Viton®) for aggressive fluids and chemicals. Fluid compatibility must always be verified case by case.

Compound Temperature range Feature Typical applications
NBR (Nitrile) -40 / +130 °C Resistance to mineral oils Hydraulics, automotive
EPDM -40 / +100 °C Water, steam, ozone, UV Hydraulics, outdoor, photovoltaic
VMQ (Silicone) -60 / +200 °C High temperatures Food-grade, high-T
FKM (Viton®) -10 / +180 °C Aggressive oils, solvents Chemicals, automotive, hydraulics
HNBR -20 / +160 °C Oils + high temperature Heavy-duty hydraulics
NR / SBR -50 / +90 °C Mechanical elasticity Anti-vibration, general purpose

Standard and custom hydraulics components

Most hydraulics components are available as catalog rubber items: flat seals in multiple diameters and thicknesses, anti-vibration feet for pump units, protection bellows, caps. For special geometries, dedicated couplings and non-standard compounds, we produce parts on drawing: at least a preliminary drawing from the customer is required. The dedicated mold is manufactured in cooperation with our trusted toolmaking partners.

Frequently asked questions

Which compound should I choose for water and steam?

EPDM is the reference compound for cold and hot water, steam and glycols, with -40/+130 °C range. For high temperatures or food applications VMQ silicone is used.

Do you produce molded flat seals for hydraulics?

Yes. EPDM flat seals are catalog items in multiple sizes and thicknesses, with more consistent surface quality than die-cut seals.

Do you make anti-vibration feet for pump units?

Yes. Cylindrical, cone and parabolic anti-vibration feet are available from catalog with co-molded threaded inserts. For dedicated geometries we produce custom versions.

Are your seals compatible with drinking water?

On request we supply EPDM or VMQ silicone compounds compliant for drinking-water or food contact. Compliance documentation is agreed at order stage.

Can I order custom hydraulics components?

Yes. For special geometries, dedicated couplings or non-standard compounds we produce items on drawing. At least a preliminary drawing from the customer is required. The dedicated mold is manufactured in cooperation with our trusted toolmaking partners.
