Rubber Components for Pneumatics and Compressed-Air Systems

Barbieri Rubber produces rubber components for pneumatics: protection bellows, flat seals, anti-vibration feet, caps and protections for ISO pneumatic cylinders, actuators, valves, FRL units and compressed-air systems. Typical compounds are NBR for air-lubrication oils, EPDM for standard applications, VMQ silicone for food and high-temperature, FKM (Viton®) for synthetic oils.

Typical pneumatics requirements

Pneumatics requires rubber components with good thermal stability, resistance to air-lubrication oils, sealing capability at medium-to-low pressures and fast, repeated operating cycles. Rod and moving-part protections must ensure free movement and long life over high-frequency cycles. Flat seals on valves and FRL units must seal on smooth surfaces with low tightening torque.

Most requested sector components: cylindrical and modular bellows for ISO pneumatic cylinder rod protection, flat seals for valves and FRL units, anti-vibration feet for compressor units, cone and round caps for temporary closure of pneumatic fittings, grommets for automation cabinets.

Typical compounds for pneumatics

NBR for air-lubrication oil exposure. EPDM for standard applications without oil. VMQ silicone for high temperatures, food and food-grade applications. FKM (Viton®) for synthetic oils and chemically aggressive environments. Typical hardness 50-70 Shore A. Selection is based on lubrication oils, working temperatures and application type.

Standard and custom pneumatics components

Most pneumatics components are available as catalog rubber items, with active tooling and no tooling cost for the customer. For custom cylinders or actuators we produce bellows, seals and protections on drawing: at least a preliminary drawing from the customer is required. The dedicated mold is manufactured in cooperation with our trusted toolmaking partners.

Frequently asked questions

Which compound for lubricated pneumatic cylinders?

NBR for air-lubrication oil exposure. For non-lubricated cylinders or clean air, EPDM or NR/SBR may be used. Selection depends on air quality and oil presence.

Do you produce catalog bellows for ISO pneumatic cylinders?

Yes. Cylindrical and modular bellows for ISO pneumatic cylinders are standard catalog rubber components, in multiple diameters and compounds.

Do you produce seals for FRL units?

Yes. NBR and EPDM flat seals for filter-regulator-lubricator units are catalog items or producible on drawing for custom geometries.

Are compounds compatible with food applications?

Yes. On request we supply VMQ silicone or EPDM compliant for food contact. Compliance documentation is agreed at order stage.

Can I order custom pneumatics components?

Yes. For custom cylinders or special pneumatic applications we produce bellows, seals and protections on drawing. At least a preliminary drawing from the customer is required.
